Hassan M. Claussen has been working in the Telecoms and IT market for over 25 years. In the early 90’s, Hassan was heading sales & marketing operations in Hamburg (Germany) for one of the largest IT Consultants, Telemation (acquired in 2000 by Dimension Data).

In Portugal since 1996, Hassan started a new career in business development, training and consulting with international training experts, ComGlobal. During this time he provided valuable services to many individuals and enterprises in the area of IT and Telecommunications. The business he worked with was recognized for many years as a leading IT Consultant.

After 17 years experience in the Telecoms and IT markets, Hassan M. Claussen founded HanseCom Media & Communication in November 2004.

With HanseCom he is now working in the event management and organization industry specializing in the telecommunications and IT industry. Together with his team, Hassan focuses his expertise in developing profitable events, handling projects from design and research, to marketing and sales, through to speaker acquisitions and management running up to and on the day of an event.

January 2014 Hassan introduced the Wi-Fi Innovation Summit (WIS), the premier global Wi-Fi conference series, that took place already in Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Palo Alto, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and San Francisco. In 2016, Hassan and his team introduced the Smart Mobility Summit, successor event to the WIS. It took place in March in San Jose, Ca. and is coming to Amsterdam in November 2016.

Alan Hadden has 29 years’ experience in senior positions in the manufacturing, regulatory, operator, trade association and consultative sectors of the mobile communications industry. He established his mobile consultancy company in 1997.

As founding President of GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) he led the organisation from 1998 to 2014 to become a world-class trusted source of mobile industry information and the leading wireless industry association for mobile suppliers. 

Alan was previously a member of the senior management team of the world’s first PCN/GSM1800 operator (now EE), during start-up, launch, and expansion phases during 1990-1997. He assisted with discussions with overseas regulators, investors and other stakeholders that helped establish 1800 MHz as a mainstream band for mobile communications and advised on opportunities for new operator investments overseas. He represented the company in various telecom and regulatory national bodies in the UK and at several international organisations. Before then Alan was Industrial Advisor to the UK communications regulator (now called Ofcom), working in the mobile communications field where he represented views influencing regulation and standardization at national and international level.

Alan is the author of many reports, information papers and data analysis for various clients and continues to produce the widely-referenced series of LTE and LTE-Advanced networks and device ecosystems reports for GSA. Antonella is a registered architect, PhD in Urban Design and soundscape researcher, currently working on her project "Beyond the Noise: Open Source Soundscapes" at the Technical University of Berlin.

Antonella was trained as an architect and undertook doctoral studies in urban design at MIT (Cambridge, USA) and at the University of Firenze (IT). She also holds a Master Degree in Architectural and Environmental Acoustics from the University of Roma Tre (IT).

Her research and professional work has been widely awarded: most notably the IPODI-Marie Curie Fellowship for post-doc research at TU Berlin, the Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship for doctoral research at MIT and the 2010 National Institute of Urbanism Award for the best Italian dissertation in Urbanism.

Her project, Toscana Sound Map, was commissioned for and exhibited at the EXPO 2015 in Milan. Since 2009, she has been the curator of Firenze Sound Map included in the Open Data System of the Municipality of Firenze.

While combining her professional and research practice, Antonella has lectured at the university level for ten years, and participated in international conferences and symposiums. Since 2016, she works with the European Commission Executive Research Agency in the frame of HORIZON 2020, as an external expert evaluator.

Tim Pryce leads the Carbon Trust's work with the public sector and cities, advising on carbon inventories, the identification of low carbon projects and targets, and strategies for getting investable projects to market. Through Tim’s team the Carbon Trust has helped over 3,000 public sector bodies and 400 local governments in the UK, Latin America, Malaysia and China to identify savings in excess of £2.5bn. Tim is a qualified chartered accountant, and has a particular interest in sustainable cities and city scale energy projects, having given evidence at London City Hall on the cost effectiveness of the London Green Fund, and presented at the Smart Cities Expo World Congress, the Economist Infrastructure Summit and COP22 among others.

Prior to joining the Carbon Trust in July 2008, Tim worked at the National Audit Office, conducting reviews of the Climate Change Agreements, EU ETS and flood defences among others. He graduated from the University of Reading with an MSc in Applied Meteorology, and from the University of Oxford with a BA Hons in Geography.

Wouter Slotboom is a security enthusiast, always looking for the weak spots. Although a big fan of new technology in general, he wants to point out the potential dangers in which new products and services are possibly accompanied with. In the case of (public) Wi-Fi, he appeared in several articles and videos showing the down-side and dangers of this technology, by giving live hacking demonstrations to the public.

Bio

Bashara is an entrepreneur with experience in over 20 different positions in multiple industries. His main focus is on business development and complex software architecture. Before moving to Portugal in 2008 he was the founder and CEO of a Wine & Alcoholic beverages retail and import business. Since then created Web Development company and was employed by an outsourcing company closing a seven deal for the implementation of a lead generation call-center for a top telecommunication company.

In 2012 he joined Beta-i as a Program Director of the Lisbon Challenge program bringing to become one of the best acceleration programs in Europe within 4 editions. Currently he is leading the new startup implementation program called Smart Open Lisboa with a focus on 4 main themes:

Citizen Engagement, Mobility, Sustainability and Tourism & Culture with outstanding results in 2016 and now working on the 2017 edition.

As a Program Director, Bashara has mentored over 200 startups and graded over 1500 startup applications participating in jury panels and mentoring in multiple events.

Prior to that Shadi was responsible for building and managing Skype WiFi and leading its growth as it became Skype's second most downloaded app. Shadi has been a founder, advisor and investor in innovative technology companies in mobile communication media and e-commerce. He is active in the startup community in Silicon Valley, London and more recently Porto as an investor and advisor. Shadi holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts and has several patent filings covering areas in networking and geo-location
