The Smart Mobility Summit

What is it?

Smart Mobility Summit is a unique event that focuses on the transformational technologies and business models that are currently revolutionising our industry. Next generation mobile technologies, smart cities and the Internet of Things (IoT) offer potentially massive opportunities, but significant challenges too. Our event brings together the entire spectrum of stakeholders to not only inform and educate, but also to help drive innovation and collaboration in order that we can all reap the benefits, and avoid the pitfalls.

Smart cities and the IoT are driving this transformation, and will change the telecommunications landscape forever. Those that ignore these opportunities risk getting left behind. Underpinning this revolution are the rapidly evolving connectivity technologies as we march towards the promised land of ubiquitous, seamless connectivity, for both people and machines.

Smart Mobility Summit brings it all together so that you can see the bigger picture. It’s an event that informs and educates, and helps you to keep your finger on the pulse of the technological advances, business model transformations, and use cases, that are driving our industry.

You need to make the right choices, so that you can develop the best strategy to drive your business forward. That’s what our event is all about: helping you to take advantage of the opportunities, while avoiding the pitfalls.

Who's it for?

Operators, carriers, technology companies, network enablers, connectivity providers, application developers, service providers (healthcare providers, city administrators, event organisers, retailers, advertisers, etc.) – essentially, anyone involved in delivering and enabling the infrastructure and applications that will drive the next generation of smart mobile technologies and services.

Why should I attend?

To keep your finger on the pulse, and gain a better understanding of the significant opportunities on offer, as well as the challenges the industry faces. As well as providing a platform for industry-leading speakers, Smart Mobility Summit enables genuine networking opportunities and the exchange of ideas between the growing diversity of stakeholders in the evolving communications industry. It does not ‘beat the drum’ for a specific technology, rather it encourages productive collaboration and open debate.

Smart Mobility Summit aims to bring the industry together and provide a platform that encourages genuine debate and the open exchange of ideas in order that stakeholders can move forward with confidence and insight. If you expect to be a part of the communications industry of the future, then Smart Mobility Summit is the only place to be!

Agenda

We’ll be exploring key themes that are driving our industry, such as:

Smart Cities

Smart city services are evolving rapidly to meet the demands of citizens and businesses. The development of mobile connectivity technologies, platforms and services is unlocking new capabilities, and offers the communications industry significant opportunity. How can the industry take advantage of the smart city revolution?

Next generation
mobile technologies

The demand for ubiquitous connectivity is driving the evolution of a multitude of existing and next-generation mobile technologies, from WiFi and small cells to 4G and 5G, which will all need to work seamlessly together. How can providers ensure seamless coverage and support an increasingly diverse mix of services and devices?

IoT

The IoT opportunity is predicted to be even bigger than that of the Internet itself. IoT offers providers significant growth potential and an opportunity to enter new vertical markets. However, it also throws up significant challenges. How can providers address the diverse connectivity needs of multiple devices and machines?

With more than twenty one years of experience in IT, and more than 19 years in team management, I’ve have developed my activity over the last four years at EMEL - Empresa Pública Municipal de Mobilidade e Estacionamento de Lisboa as Chief Information Officer, reporting directly to the Board.

Previously I was Chief Information Officer at VitalDent Portugal, after being more than twelve years at the Finance business, in both GE Money Portugal and Interbanco.

In 2017 i've been awarded CIO of the year 2016 for the government sector, being a finalist for the European CIO of the Year 2017 awards.

At EMEL I’ve taken the challenge to perform the company’s Digital Transformation, which resulted in the creation of a Mobility Constellation – Several citizen centric platforms providing services to Lisbon’s mobilized citizens.

Being very adaptable and customer centric, always willing to learn from the best, and never afraid to take more responsibility and new challenges, I’ve previously lead the IT department of VitalDent and GE Money VisionPLUS IT department, both with more than ten parallel projects, critical to the success of both companies.

At VitalDent I've managed to create and build the entire IT department from scratch, implementing several successful projects that given the company the competitive advantage towards the other companies in the health business.

Having my last role at GE Portugal as a PMO Leader and BPM Leader, I’ve improved the PMO process. During this initiative, I’ve conceived and lead the Single Customer View project, which increased productivity in more than 95% and avoided an investment of €200 K, being nominated for a GE Global Banking worldwide prize and received GE Leadership award.
